abstract | A gene introduction agent having a molecular weight and a particle size suitable for gene introduction is produced by controlling the number of crosslinks of a gene introduction agent comprising a crosslinked polymer of a branched polymer. In producing a gene transfer agent comprising a branched branched polymer by crosslinking a branched polymer having a plurality of branched chains radially extended from an aromatic ring as a nucleus, a peak wavelength of 360 to 360 is produced. By light irradiation living polymerization with light in the range of 375 nm, a branched polymer is obtained by introducing a plurality of branched chains into the aromatic ring, and the branched polymer is irradiated with light having a peak wavelength of 350 nm or less. The later branched polymer is crosslinked. The crosslinking of the branched polymer involves converting the branched chain end of the branched polymer into an SH group by hydrolyzing the branched polymer after the two-step light irradiation, and reacting the SH groups with each other.
