abstract A library apparatus is provided that can accommodate as many cartridges as possible in a housing of a library apparatus having a height of 1U. A robot 32 that can move in the depth direction and the left-right direction of the casing in an area excluding the drive 1, the power supply section 2, and the control section 3 in the casing of the library apparatus 20 having a height of 1U. A cell shelf 40 is disposed on the bottom plate, and the cell shelf 40 for arranging the cartridges 10 above the robot 32 is suspended from the ceiling of the housing. The robot and the cartridge are placed on the bottom plate of the cell shelf 40. This is a library apparatus in which a guide groove 42 is formed for engaging and moving the cartridge and the cell shelf 42 accommodates the cartridge 10 while leaving only a space for one cartridge.
