abstract |
To provide a production method capable of dimerizing a substrate alcohol with high yield and high selectivity even when the amount of base is small, thereby obtaining an alcohol. The method for producing an alcohol of the present invention comprises the step of adding a substrate alcohol selected from a primary alcohol and a secondary alcohol in the presence of 0.5 to 40 mol% NaOH with respect to the copper compound and the substrate alcohol.
