abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin and a surface impact resistant member having a stable surface impact strength, a very low brittle fracture rate, a high surface hardness, excellent heat resistance and thermal stability. SOLUTION: A polycarbonate resin containing at least a structural unit derived from a dihydroxy compound having a site represented by the following general formula (1) in a part of the structure, and a molded body (thickness) molded from the polycarbonate resin 1 mm), a polycarbonate resin having a 50% fracture energy of 17 J or more and a brittle fracture rate of 20% or less according to a falling weight impact test according to JIS K 7211.
