abstract | A main object of the present invention is to provide a step index type optical waveguide that can be easily manufactured without causing roughness at the interface between a core and a clad, and a manufacturing method thereof. In an optical waveguide having a core part and a clad part, the core part is constituted by a composite in which a gas molecule of a compound having the following characteristics is infiltrated into a base polymer material constituting the clad part.
