titleOfInvention Interface device for providing eye reshaping data and method of operating an interface device for generating data for later use in the eye reshaping device
abstract An interactive device for performing an eye surgical procedure with topography is provided. An apparatus and method for correcting corneal irregularities by scraping the corneal surface of an eye to produce a desired corrected corneal curvature. A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a topography device that maps corneal irregularities and surface irregularities in detail, and instructions for receiving and handling topographic data and performing a predetermined removal profile on a substrate such as corneal stroma. And an interface device for providing various visual indications of the actual before and after treatment and the simulated one. The interface device, which can be self-supporting, can investigate and simulate a wide range of potential surgical alternatives for a wide range of corneal defects, including irregular eye shapes and corneal surface irregularities. It provides a means for use by surgeons, etc., that allows surgeons, etc., to input their expertise in the development of a clinical removal profile that fits well with the characteristics of the cornea's eyes.
