abstract The present invention provides a novel combination of microbicides that exerts a synergistic effect. (A) N-methyl-1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one or N- (n-butyl) -1,2-benzisothiazoline; and (b) methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, benzoic acid A composition comprising one of an acid or a salt thereof, sorbic acid or a salt thereof, dehydroacetic acid or a salt thereof. The composition can be microemulsified using a surfactant and can be used in industrial process water and the like to inhibit the growth of microorganisms or higher aquatic organisms.
