abstract | The present invention relates to a method for easily and efficiently separating an endo isomer and an exo isomer from a mixture containing a norbornene structure or a carboxylic anhydride having an norbornane structure and an exo isomer, and taking each with high isomer purity. Provided. (A) a step of preparing a mixture containing at least one of a carboxylic acid anhydride having a norbornene structure and a carboxylic acid anhydride having a norbornane structure in which an endo isomer and an exo isomer coexist; and (B) the above mixture; A step of forming an endo-form and an exo-form hydrate by a hydration reaction with water, (C) a step of adding at least one of an organic solvent and an aqueous inorganic salt solution to the hydrate, and (D) an extraction solvent A step of separating an exo hydrate as a precipitate from, and (E) an exo hydrate separated in the step (D) above, and an extraction solvent after separating the exo hydrate Each of the obtained endo hydrates includes a step of cyclization.
