In a method for obtaining an aluminum titanate-based fired body by firing a molded body of a raw material mixture, good mechanical strength can be maintained even after the binder is burned out during firing, and thus during firing. The present invention provides a method capable of producing an aluminum titanate-based fired body having a desired shape with reduced yield, such as cracks, and with a high yield.
