Infusion catheter with atraumatic tip |
abstract |
An apparatus and method for treating an occlusion by injecting fluid into the occlusion, dissolving the occlusion, and reducing adhesion of the occlusion to the inside of a blood vessel. The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for treating vascular occlusion by providing an infusion catheter having an atraumatic tip and at least one delivery port configured to inject fluid during occlusion. About. The infused fluid dilutes the occlusion and reduces adhesion of the occlusion to the intima of the vessel wall, thereby moving the occlusion. The emboli formed in this process are directed into the emboli removal catheter for removal. Apparatus and methods are also provided for treating vascular occlusions that utilize a centering device to help position and secure the infusion catheter within the occlusion. [Selection] Figure 1 |
