abstract | In a polarizing plate having a cellulose ester film having a phase difference on one surface, it is possible to obtain a polarizing plate that is less likely to cause fluctuations in the retardation value in the polarizing plate manufacturing process and has little variation in retardation value. A liquid crystal display device with improved uniformity is provided. A liquid crystal display device having a polarizing plate having a retardation film on one surface of a polarizing film and a backlight, the retardation film containing at least a plasticizer and a cellulose ester, and having a positron annihilation lifetime.
