abstract |
Attempts have been made to use bioadhesive polymers to deliver drugs. Bioadhesives are synthetic and naturally occurring materials that can adhere to biological substrates for extended periods of time. However, some bioadhesives can cause local irritation. A composition comprising a bioadhesive that combines an adjuvant and an antigen for mucosal delivery is provided. Also provided are methods for making the compositions, as well as methods for immunizing using the compositions. The composition includes at least one bioadhesive, at least one adjuvant, and at least one antigen. The antigen is also present at about 0.1% to 40% (w / w) relative to the bioadhesive and the adjuvant is about 0.1% to 40% (w / w relative to the bioadhesive. / W). [Selection figure] None |
