abstract | In a method of manufacturing an optical waveguide having a core portion made of a solid medium, non-uniformity of the solid medium when the length is increased is reduced. A clad material 402 is applied on an original plate 401 (FIG. 4A). A first clad sheet 403 is applied thereon by a laminating method (FIG. 4B). After lamination, heating is performed to remove excess solvent and the like, and the first clad sheet 403 is peeled off from the original plate 401 to obtain a soft stamper 404 having a recess 404A (FIG. 4C). The second clad sheet 405 is bonded to the soft stamper 404A by a laminating method (FIG. 4D) to obtain a clad portion 406A having a hollow portion 406B (FIG. 4E). Finally, when UV resin is sealed in the hollow portion 406B by capillary action and subsequently irradiated with ultraviolet rays, the core portion 406B ′ is solidified to obtain the optical waveguide 400 having the clad portion 406A and the core portion 406B ′ (FIG. 4 ( f)).
