Extraction and separation method of rare earth elements |
abstract |
The present invention provides a method for extracting and separating rare earth elements capable of satisfactorily extracting and separating adjacent rare earth elements such as neodymium / praseodymium. An organic phase using diglycolamide acid as an extractant and a low-polar alcohol as a solvent is contacted with an aqueous phase comprising an aqueous solution containing two or more rare earth elements under acidic conditions of pH 3 or less. Solvent extraction using a flow multistage mixer settler. The rare earth element solution 1, the organic phase 2 and the alkaline aqueous solution 3 are introduced into the extraction part A from the respective pipes, and the acid aqueous solutions 4 and 6 are introduced into the scrub part B and the back extraction part C from the respective pipes. The aqueous phase 5 containing the rare earth element remaining without being extracted into the organic phase and the aqueous solution 7 obtained by back-extracting the rare earth element extracted into the organic phase are recovered.
