abstract To provide an animal for an early-stage breast cancer model that can mimic early-stage breast cancer and is easy to handle. The present invention provides a female non-human mammal for early-stage breast cancer model in which aPKCĪ» gene is knocked out specifically for mammary epithelial cells. The model animal of the present invention mimics the initial state of breast cancer accurately. This early breast cancer is not simply an early breast cancer caused by abnormal growth of mammary epithelial cells, but is an early breast cancer caused by abnormal growth of mammary epithelial stem cells or progenitor cells. [Effect] The model animal is easier to handle than known breast cancer model animals, and is not only useful for the search and development of therapeutic methods and diagnostic markers targeting the abnormally grown breast epithelial cells, It is useful for the search and development of therapeutic methods and diagnostic markers targeting abnormally proliferating breast epithelial stem cells / progenitor cells.
