titleOfInvention Method for forming nanocrystals
abstract A method of forming a nanocrystal is provided. The nanocrystals may be binary nanocrystals of general formula M1A or general formula M1O, may be ternary nanocrystals of general formula M1M2A, general formula M1AB or general formula M1M2O, or four of general formula M1M2AB. Original nanocrystals may also be used. M1 is a metal of Group II to IV, Group VII or Group VIII of PSE. A is a group VI or V element of PSE. O is oxygen. A homogeneous reaction mixture is formed in a non-polar solvent with a low boiling point, including a metal precursor containing metal M1 and M2 where applicable. For nanocrystals containing oxygen, the metal precursor contains an oxygen donor. If applicable, A is also included in the homogeneous reaction mixture. The homogeneous reaction mixture is heated to an elevated temperature that is suitable to form nanocrystals under high pressure.
