abstract | The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation containing scoparone as an active ingredient, a use for inhibiting vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation of scoparone, and a method for inhibiting vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation using the same. According to the present invention, it has been found that scoparone can suppress the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells by increasing the activity of AMPK. For this reason, scopalone can be effectively used as an active ingredient of a medicament for inhibiting vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, particularly for preventing or treating vascular restenosis. |
