The present invention relates to a high density polyethylene blown film having excellent barrier properties and improved processing characteristics. The method introduces the use of peroxide, which improves bubble stability without sacrificing barrier properties. Polyethylene has a density greater than about 0.950 g / cc, is relatively narrow in the molecular weight distribution MWD (within a range of about 2.0 to about 6.5), and has a medium molecular weight. In one embodiment, the film also has a rheological width parameter, a, which is reduced by at least about 5% by the addition of peroxide to polyethylene, but not more than 45%. The addition of peroxide improves processability without sacrificing strength and barrier properties, such as oxygen permeability. [Selection] Figure 1 |
