titleOfInvention Synchronous view of video data and 3D model data
abstract Tools for preparing digital dental models, as well as related systems and methods, for use in dental restoration manufacturing processes are described. Dental modeling is improved by supplementing the view of the 3D model with a still image of the modeled subject. The video data obtained during the scan of the model provides a source of still images that can be displayed with the rendered 3D model, and the two views (model and still image) are synchronized so that the common object of the model subject is shared. Can provide a view point. This approach provides useful visual information to eliminate ambiguities in model surface features during process steps, such as marking of prepared tooth surface boundaries for dental restorations. Interactive modeling tools can be improved as well. For example, a tool for boundary marking synchronizes the display of the boundary line between the still image and the model so that the user interacts with either or both visual displays and changes to the boundary are both Reflected in the display.
