abstract |
The present invention is a first layer made of a polycrystalline cBN (cubic boron nitride) material having a rake face (working face) and a flank face, the first layer containing less than 70% by volume of cBN. A second layer that is present over the entire rake face or at least partially over the rake face, comprising a refractory material, optionally a binder phase, and optionally cBN. And the second layer has a crater resistance greater than that of the first layer made of the polycrystalline cBN material. A tool component having an affinity for iron and smaller than that for cBN. |
