Imprinted polymeric materials for binding to various targets such as viruses |
abstract |
An imprinted polymeric material that selectively binds to a template. Various types of templates including microorganisms (eg viruses or bacteria) or biopolymers (eg proteins or DNA) can be targeted for imprinted polymeric materials. The imprinted polymeric material can be formed by a template-directed synthesis method using monomer units that interact with the template. Monomer units are used to form a polymer matrix around the template. An imprinted polymeric material containing a cross-linked polymer matrix containing a polyampholyte polymer is also disclosed. The polymer matrix has a binding cavity that can be selectively bonded to the template. Various uses of such imprinted polymeric materials are also disclosed. [Selection] Figure 2 |
