titleOfInvention | Method for depositing electrolyte and decorative and technical layers of black ruthenium |
abstract | The production of an oxidatively stable and mechanically strong metal layer with a black color represents a particular change in the field of electrochemical finishing, especially because there are only a few metals suitable for this purpose. Unlike nickel, the possibility of being harmless to health and economical compared to rhodium is the electrochemical production of black ruthenium layers. The present invention provides an electrolyte and a method of using the electrolyte to provide a black ruthenium layer on jewelry pieces, ornaments, consumer products and technical articles. The electrolyte is characterized by using one or more phosphonic acid derivatives as a blackening agent. They maintain the lightness. The degree of blackness of the resulting black ruthenium layer can be adjusted by selection of the type and amount of phosphonic acid derivative used while maintaining the desired brightness. |
