abstract The present invention provides a method for synthesizing IB-MECA. More particularly, the present invention provides a simple and high yield method for the proper production (GMP) of IB-MECA. This method includes the reaction of 6-halopurine-9-riboside with a diol protecting reagent, oxidation of the primary alcohol of 6-halopurine protected with diol, 6-halopurine protected with diol and a nucleophile (eg, Reaction with methylamine), substitution of halogen groups with iodobenzylamine, and elimination of diol-protected groups.
