titleOfInvention | Integrated adjustable intraocular lens (AIOL) and separate base member for use with the lens |
abstract | A haptic system for self-adhesion in the ciliary sulcus of human eyes, a first diopter strength in an uncompressed state, and a second diopter strength different from the first diopter strength in a compressed state. An integrated adjustable intraocular lens (AIOL) comprising a resiliently and elastically compressible shape memory optical element having a diopter strength that can be continuously varied. The monolithic AIOL includes an optical element having an exposed trailing edge surface for use with a separate base member for applying an axial compressive force from the rear to the exposed trailing edge surface. Is intended. Some monolithic AIOLs are intended to be used with either a purpose-designed base member or a previously implanted standard intracapsular IOL. Other integrated AIOLs are intended for use only with a base member designed for the purpose. [Selection] Figure 3 |
