Disclosed are methods and compositions for detecting high fatty acid synthase (FAS) expression in a subject's liver. The detection may be detection of expression in the hepatocytes themselves or in the body fluid of interest. Also disclosed are methods for identifying the presence or absence of liver disease or pathology associated with elevated FAS. This disclosed method can be practiced with a variety of compositions comprising reagents for detecting FAS expression as described herein. |
