titleOfInvention | Raised and bent waveguide applicator |
abstract | A folded waveguide applicator for exposing materials to microwave energy for heating, drying or curing. The conveyor carries the material through a series of slots formed in the sides facing each other in a continuous array of waveguide paths in a folded arrangement. Each transmission path has a raised waveguide structure with a raised portion at each corner of a different rectangular waveguide. The ridges make the internal cross section of the waveguide path cruciform and direct the microwave energy away from the slot to weaken the discharge, mutual leakage and leakage.
