The properties of Fc-containing proteins, such as antibodies, are controlled by altering sialylation of oligosaccharides in the Fc region by transfecting cell lines expressing Fc-containing proteins with vector sequences encoding sialidase. Modified Fc-containing proteins treat diseases or conditions where it is desired to control affinity for one or more of FcγRI, FcγRIIA and FcγRIIIA receptors, ADCC activity, macrophage or monocyte activation, serum half-life and avidity Have a practical use.
