A first stage of producing acrolein by dehydrating glycerol in the gas phase under a pressure of 1 to 5 bar in the presence of a catalyst, and a second stage of producing acrylic acid by oxidizing acrolein, A method for producing acrylic acid from an aqueous glycerol solution. An intermediate stage is provided for condensing at least a portion of the water and heavy by-products present in the stream resulting from the first dehydration stage. The method of the present invention increases the productivity and selectivity of acrylic acid. |
