abstract For example, the implant release mechanism for releasing the stent (60) passes through the space between the wire guide catheter (24) and the pusher sheath or dilator (30) and around the wire guide catheter (24). It comprises three restraining wires (62), which are arranged substantially equiangularly. Each of the restraining wires (62) holds both the proximal and distal ends of the stent (60), each holding a proportion of the end of the stent (60) in this case. When the restraining wire (62) is pulled, the restraining wire (62) is first peeled from the proximal end of the stent (60), and then the stent is fully placed within the patient's lumen. The distal end of (60) will be released. By using a common release wire, the placement of the implant can be improved and the number and volume of components included in the device can be reduced, thereby providing a device that occupies a smaller volume.
