titleOfInvention | Treatment of solid brominated aromatic organic compounds containing occluded bromine. |
abstract | Solid phase highly brominated compounds such as solid highly brominated flame retardants with a bromine content of at least about 60% by weight often contain occluded bromine. Due to the high bromine content, such compounds have a relatively low solubility in common organic solvents. Despite its low solubility, the occluded bromine content in such solid brominated compounds is effective by stirring a thick stirred slurry of this compound in an inert solvent at a suitable temperature for at least about 1 hour. Is reduced. Thereafter, solids with reduced occluded bromine content are isolated or recovered from the slurry. New products with substantially reduced or eliminated occluded bromine content and other highly desirable properties are also provided. [Selection figure] None |
