abstract |
A porous polymer support; a semipermeable polymer film polymerized on the porous polymer support; and a size in the range of microparticles and nanoparticles dispersed in the porous polymer support. Disclosed is a compression resistant composite thin film having particles that are present. Also, the polymer film is dispersed in a porous polymer support and has a particle size in the range of microparticles and nanoparticles, so as to improve the flux flow characteristics over time of the semipermeable membrane. Also disclosed is a method of making a compression resistant composite thin film by polymerizing on a porous polymeric support having selected particles. A method of purifying water using the disclosed membrane is also disclosed.
