Quinoline derivatives, particularly 4-anilinoquinoline derivatives, are provided. Such quinoline derivatives can be used for the regulation of DNA methylation, for example by selective inhibition of the DNA methyltransferase DNMT1, such as effective inhibition of cytosine methylation at the C-5 position. Methods are provided for synthesizing a number of 4-anilinoquinoline derivatives and for modulating DNA methylation. Also provided are methods for formulating or administering these compounds or compositions to treat conditions such as cancer and blood diseases. |
