abstract The present invention relates to a molding material mixture for producing a metal working mold, a method for producing the mold, a mold produced by the method, and application of the mold. A refractory molding base material and a binder based on water glass are used to produce the mold. A certain proportion of particulate metal oxide selected from the group consisting of silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, titanium oxide and zinc oxide is added to the binder, particularly preferably synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide.
