abstract |
Methods are provided for measuring the size of a particular nucleic acid segment of interest in a nucleic acid sample by DNA fragmentation, size fractionation, second fragmentation as needed, and identification using a marker sequence. In a specific aspect, an increase or decrease in tandem repeat sequences can be detected. In a further aspect, carriers of disease or individuals affected by fragile X syndrome or other tandem repeats can be distinguished from normal individuals. |
