abstract | The present invention relates to silane coatings and methods for producing silane coatings. To solve the above problems, A superconcept that adds a reactant to one or more silanes that have not been pre-condensed or that have undergone only minimal pre-condensation, and that the resulting coating material is applied to the substrate and then cured to produce a silane coating. A method for producing a silane coating by the method is provided. Surprisingly, it has been found that a new class of coating materials can be produced by reacting a polymeric but preexisting cross-linked silane with a suitable reactant. According to the latest technology, silane is processed by a sol-gel method, assuming precondensed species. The approach of the present invention has no limitation on the pot life time, and has the further advantage that a coating material having better characteristics, particularly high scratch resistance, can be obtained.
