titleOfInvention | Metal halide lamp |
abstract | Provided is a metal halide lamp in which a pinch seal portion of an inner tube does not crack. In a metal halide lamp, a double-pipe structure body 42 that houses an arc tube in an inner tube whose one end is pinch-sealed is held by a holder 102 in an envelope composed of an outer tube and a case. The arc tube has a pair of electrodes inside, and the pinch seal portion 78 of the double tube structure 42 is held by the holding hole of the holder 102. Of the positions where the outer peripheral surface of the holder 102 is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the outer tube and is in contact with the inner peripheral surface of the outer tube, the position closest to the tube axis Y of the arc tube is defined as A point. The distance of the point A with respect to the reference plane X passing through the center O between the electrodes and perpendicular to the tube axis Y, where D is the diameter of a circle passing through the point A centering on a point on the tube axis perpendicular to Y L (the direction away from the holder 102 is positive) satisfies L ≦ 0.25 × D + 0.14 × Wla-21 (Wla: lamp power).
