| abstract | The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for converting a colorimetric value detected from a printed material to another colorimetric value, and from the colorimetric value detected in response to a change in printing material condition or printing condition to another colorimetric value. The conversion can be performed with high accuracy. A printed material traveling on a printing press is measured by a first colorimeter to obtain a first colorimetric value, and a second portion of the printed material is measured by a second colorimeter to obtain a second colorimetric value. The first colorimetric value and the correspondence between the colorimetric values obtained when the same color is measured using the first colorimeter and the second colorimeter, which are obtained in advance.
