abstract | Provided is a display element which has a simple member configuration, can be driven at a low voltage, has almost no decrease in rewriting speed in repeated driving, and can be rewritten a very large number of times. An electrolyte composition containing a silver salt compound that dissolves and precipitates by an electrochemical redox reaction between a display electrode and a counter electrode facing the display electrode, and black and white are applied by applying a voltage. A display element, wherein a coating liquid containing an oxoammonium compound whose counter anion is a sulfonate anion-containing polymer is coated on the counter electrode.
