titleOfInvention | Method for producing adamantanols |
abstract | An expensive ruthenium catalyst used in the production of adamantanols is easily separated and recovered at a high yield, and the load on the environment is reduced by reducing ruthenium compounds flowing out into waste water. SOLUTION: In a method for producing adamantanol by reacting adamantane with a ruthenium compound and hypochlorite in a water / organic solvent two-phase system, (1) an alkali is added to the mixture after the reaction. (2) After separating the mixed solution into an aqueous phase and an organic phase, the alcohol concentration of 8 or less carbon atoms in the aqueous phase is adjusted to 0.1 wt% or less, and (4) A chlorite and an organic solvent are added to recover a ruthenium compound.
