abstract An ion sorbent is provided that has a high ion sorption rate and is excellent in ion sorption even in a low-concentration solution in order to easily remove oxygenate ions. An oxyacid ion sorbent comprising an ion sorbent part made of a polymer having a three-dimensional network structure and a oxyacid ion sorbable cationic group, and a support substrate made of a cellulose-based material. In the production method, a cellulose substrate treated with an alkali cellulose is treated with a polyfunctional compound having an epoxy group, and a compound having a group capable of reacting with an epoxy group and a cationic group in the same molecule or having a compound separately. Used for water treatment, characterized by synthesizing a polymer having a three-dimensional network structure having an oxyacid ion sorbing cationic group by reacting with a polyfunctional compound as necessary.
