abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a redox flow battery having a high electromotive force that suppresses the precipitation of an active material and hardly deteriorates battery performance. A positive electrode cell and a negative electrode cell; an ion exchange membrane that separates the two cells; a first tank that stores a positive electrode active material for the positive electrode cell; and a negative electrode active for the negative electrode cell. A second tank 113 in which an electrolyte containing a substance and a solvent is stored; and first pipes 104 and 105 connected so that the positive electrode active material can circulate between the first tank and the positive electrode cell; Second pipes 114 and 115 connected so that the electrolyte can circulate between the second tank and the negative electrode cell, and a first pump for positive electrode active material circulation provided in the middle of the first pipe 107 and a second pump 116 for circulating an electrolyte provided in the middle of the second pipe, and the solvent for the negative electrode cell is a redox flow battery in which the solvent is an ionic liquid.
