abstract | Disclosed is an electrolyte solution for a dye-sensitized battery that has high photoelectric conversion efficiency and can be almost colorless and transparent. It is formed from at least one cationic group consisting of one or more groups containing a quaternary nitrogen atom, a tertiary sulfur atom, or a quaternary phosphorus atom, and a halide ion group. By using an electrolyte for a dye-sensitized solar cell, which contains a halide salt, and further contains or does not contain iodine molecules, and in the case of containing halogen molecules, the concentration of the halogen molecules is 0.0004 mol / l or less.
