abstract | A thermal recording medium having a high recording density and improved oil resistance and plasticizer resistance of a recording portion is provided. In a heat-sensitive recording material having a heat-sensitive recording layer containing a leuco dye and a colorant on a support, zinc benzoate is added to the heat-sensitive recording layer solid content in an amount of 5 to 5 as the colorant. It is preferable to contain 30% by mass and 2 to 15% by mass of a compound represented by a specific structural formula. The colorant is preferably a compound obtained by wet-pulverizing a compound represented by a specific structural formula and zinc benzoate to an average particle size of 0.1 to 3 μm.
