titleOfInvention Short arc type discharge lamp
abstract To provide a short arc type discharge lamp including a cathode capable of stably supplying an electron emitting material from a tungsten cathode to an arc and preventing fluctuations in illuminance. In a short arc type discharge lamp in which a pair of a cathode and an anode are opposed to each other inside an arc tube, the cathode 20 is made of a tungsten material containing an electron emitting material and has a smaller diameter toward the tip. A tapered portion 24, a distal end surface 25 formed on the distal end side of the tapered portion 24, and a narrow hole 26 extending from the distal end surface to the inside of the cathode. It is formed over the above tungsten crystal grains. [Selection] Figure 4
