abstract | Provided is an image forming apparatus capable of reducing deteriorated toner in a developer and suppressing deterioration of charge amount distribution even when the deteriorated toner is present. An image is formed in an image forming unit 101 which is a portion of a photoconductor 10 facing a developing roll 133, and residual toner on the photoconductor 10 after a toner image is transferred to a transfer target is cleaned. Immediately before the toner is collected by the member and the toner is replenished, the deteriorated toner in the non-image forming portion 102 which is the portion of the photoconductor 10 facing the conveyance roll 134 is removed and collected by the cleaning member. The collected residual toner is supplied as a collected toner together with unused toner to the developing device 13 so that the toner charge amount distribution at the beginning of toner replenishment is made within an appropriate range. At this time, the control unit 1A adjusts the supply amounts of the collected toner and the unused toner so as to adjust the supply amount to a necessary amount for development.
