abstract | An object of the present invention is to find a process for producing a polyoxyalkylene alcohol having improved odor. A method for producing a polyoxyalkylene alcohol (a) comprising the following steps (A) to (C). Step (A): In the reaction vessel (1), the gas phase (d) containing a by-product compound (c) having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or less at a pressure of 0.1 MPa is continuously or intermittently added to the reaction vessel (1). A step of producing polyoxyalkylene alcohol (a) by addition-polymerizing alkylene oxide (f) to active hydrogen-containing compound (e) in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst (b) while removing it outside the system. Step (B): The gas phase (d) removed out of the reaction tank (1) is sent to the reaction tower (2) packed with the solid catalyst (g) and brought into contact with the solid catalyst (g) to obtain the gas phase (h ).
