abstract A high-efficiency two-photon absorption material is provided to realize a practical application using two-photon absorption using a small and inexpensive laser. Further, a two-photon absorbing material comprising an electron-withdrawing compound having a high ionization potential and a pi-electron conjugated two-photon absorbing compound having an electron-donating group and capable of being chemically sensitized with the electron-withdrawing compound. A two-photon absorption optical recording / reproducing method characterized in that after recording is performed using a method that cannot be rewritten using photon absorption, reproduction is performed by irradiating the recording material with light and detecting the difference in emission intensity, and the method A two-photon absorption optical recording material capable of such recording and reproduction is provided. Furthermore, a two-photon absorption three-dimensional optical recording material, a two-photon absorption three-dimensional optical recording method and a reproducing method using the same are provided.
