abstract | A theanine-containing composition obtained by separation and purification from a green tea extract, which contains 30% by mass or more of theanine and has a low potassium content. A green tea extract is enzymatically treated with inulinase to obtain an enzyme-treated liquid, and the enzyme-treated liquid is separated into a theanine-containing fraction and other contaminated fractions by column chromatography. By collecting the theanine-containing fraction, a theanine-containing composition containing 30% by mass or more of theanine and having a low potassium content can be produced.
