A novel salt-resistant thickener capable of exhibiting sufficient viscoelasticity at a concentration of a salt or a drug that may be blended in a cosmetic using a crosslinked hyaluronic acid gel is developed. The present invention provides a thickener comprising a crosslinked hyaluronic acid gel. The method for producing the crosslinked hyaluronic acid gel includes (1) a step of stirring and mixing a mixture containing hyaluronic acid, a crosslinking agent and water under acid or alkaline conditions, and (2) a step of performing a crosslinking reaction of the mixture; 3) crushing the mixture into a slurry.
