An image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and an image processing program capable of accurately detecting a lesion area from an image in a body cavity are provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, an extraction unit extracts a mucosal region from an in-vivo image. Based on the hue and saturation of the mucous membrane region extracted by the extraction unit 17, the determination criterion creation unit 18 creates a hue direction determination criterion and a saturation direction determination criterion for detecting a lesion region.
